Tinkerbell Half Marathon

As you all know, I am a big fan of Disney races, and this year was the inaugural TinkerBell Half Marathon, and I was not going to miss it. I was also not going to dress as a fairy like everyone else when there were so many other characters to choose from! Continuing with my Disneyland 2011 Half Marathon theme I went as Alice in Wonderland. Thanks to my awesome mom for making me yet another running-appropriate costume.

Alas, I was not the only Alice, but I give this lady a thumbs-up because her name actually was Alice. She had no choice... she had to run as Alice, especially since they put our names on our bibs. I'm so jealous!

Since I am a big fan of Disney races, and I enjoy talking others into sharing my craziness, I talked my BFF Janet into doing her first half-marathon. I've said it more than once... if you only want to do one big race in your life, do a Disney race. I think Janet, as the Queen of Hearts, would agree with me.

I am pretty good at talking people into doing things they never thought they wanted to do. I have some impressive skills... or it may be this totally adorable medal. Either way... it was an awesome race, and we were both thrilled to pieces to get these beauties to take home...

And then head over to Taco Surf and eat some delightful chips and salsa and fish tacos in celebration!

Chicago... in February...

What do you do in Chicago in February? Head to Wisconsin to go to the waterpark, of course! Did you know that Wisconsin Dells is the waterpark capital of the WORLD?!?!?! Neither did I...but since I was out visiting Missy and the kids over President's Day, Paul decided to take us all on a fun-filled family outing.

Missy told me that I could pick a kid to hang out with... I picked Halle and we enjoyed the Lazy River for most of the day. For all her fiery spunkiness, Halle is a big chicken, which was fine by me. I enjoy big rides, but I think there was a large part of me that was a little anti-waterslide in mid-February.

Also, Wisconsin water parks are kind of like Lagoon in that you feel a little white trash just being there. I did feel a little naked without a single tattoo or body piercing. At one point, Matt pointed out a guy and said to me, "Aunt Heather, that guy needs to pull up his swim suit." And I said, "Say no to crack, Matt." At which point, he started laughing uncontrollably, and I realized that I had just earned some cool points with the 10-year old.

All-in-all a good time was had by everyone. It's always fun for me to hang out with the kids, eat out, spend time with the Walkers, and then come home to peace and quiet.
