The Haunted Hollow...

My mom and I spent last night scaring little kids and handing out candy...our favorite things! Draper holds their Haunted Hollow every year and it was GREAT! There were lots of kids, games, popcorn and cotton candy. It was a lot of fun. The kids get a card to fill out, and my mom and I were the celebrity witches...so once the kids talk to us, they get a square signed off and when they fill up the card they get a pumpkin to take home. It was probably only the inducement of a prize that gave some of those kids enough courage to come up to us...we were pretty scary. Not as scary as the 8 ft. tall Frankenstein, but hey...we did what we could.

The Internet Dating Saga Continues...

My "friend" Stacy signed me up at LDSPlanet.com. Since the Match.com was going SOOO well, I think she thought I needed a more religion-minded site. If that was the case, she probably shouldn't have chosen "HotHeatherFun" as my screen name.

Take, for instance, this guy...

I think he heard that Cliff was out of the picture. He's 83 and describes his build as "athletic." I'm sorry...but what is an 83-year-old looking at 33-year-olds for?

OK, honestly, I don't have anything against internet dating. I'm sure it works for a lot of people. My problem is that I attract weirdos in real life...a trait that is exponentially multiplied in the cyberworld.

Also, with Stacy now in charge of my dating life, she likes to "be" me and send out little messages to guys she thinks are cute. Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. She sent out a message from"me" to a guy I knew my junior year at BYU.

Let's call him Greg, because that's his name. (Also, this girl is in all the pictures he posted...with his arm around her...maybe he thinks he looks more desirable if he already has a girl?) Well, my roommate Niko and I went on a horrible horrible double date with him and his roommate Mike....not once, but twice. One involved his roommate's truck and some offroading designed to bodily throw us into our dates. Another involved picking out outfits for them from our closets and them picking out outfits for us from their closets, and then we went to McDonald's where Mike had to spot Greg money for dinner. What can I say...we were stupid 20-year olds. Later, on a group activity, we went shooting and when I was a better shot than Greg, he told me I was "unfeminine." Yep...I'm still holding a grudge about that. So, now Stacy sent a message to Greg...and he thinks I'm interested. So much fun with just a few clicks of the mouse...

St. George Marathon...Check!

So, Chad, Paul and I all did the St. George Marathon last Saturday. It was a perfect day for a race! A little cool, then sunny and warm and the end. We had a nice crowd of supporters, I got a PR (3:51) and most importantly, Chad decided not to take a nap in the gutter this time. We all made it to the finish line without assistance!

This is me approaching the finish line. Miles 23-26 were kind of hard...I was running out of energy, but I knew I had to make it the 26.2 because this was waiting for me at the finish line...
A two-hander diet coke! (and my mom with a giant sign)

Chad decided to have a nice grass nap this time, instead of a gutter nap, like last time... But obviously, the race had taken its emotional toll on Chad and Paul as evidenced below...take a good look at this pic, because you'll probably never see it's likes again (we hope).

Dum dum da dum....

Well, my 84-year old boyfriend is getting married. Yep, his wife just died in May, and he's already getting married again. He hooked up with a lady he knew from high school, way back in the day, like 60 years ago! They like to take drives and go for hamburgers, and now they are getting married, after they both told each other they weren't looking for anything other than friendship. I must be doing something wrong! I've been dating for about 17 years, no wedding for me...I should've been taking notes from Cliff....ha! Cliff Notes!

Well...there's always hope for me if I'm still single when I'm 84! Never give up!
